MSN/9News: Holiday season kicks off with record-breaking start in Olde Town Arvada

The holiday season kicked off in full swing in Olde Town Arvada, as Small Business Saturday and the annual Christmas market drew record-breaking crowds. 

Four local businesses reported their best sales ever, and the festive atmosphere marked the largest Christmas market in the district’s history, according to Joe Hengstler, director of the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District.

Among the businesses with record sales were The Bluegrass, featuring its festive NOEL Christmas Pop-Up Bar, as well as Adiluna, Electric Cherry and the pair of shops Outside the Box and Outside the Box Too.

For Dorn Nienaber, co-owner of Outside the Box, the weekend was nothing short of extraordinary. With decades of retail experience behind him, Nienaber called it one of the proudest moments of his career.

“To see lines of people outside both of our stores — it made us happy,” he said, visibly emotional. “It was just a magical weekend, honestly. It was our busiest day ever since we had been in business.”
